Line 6 POD X3 Live Review

Line 6 POD X3 Live Feature

  • External Power Adapter Included
  • USB 2.0 Cable Included
  • Tap Tempo Control for Time-Based Effects
  • 2 Chrome Handlebars
The stage-ready POD® X3 Live represents the true evolution of the now-classic POD® xt Live guitar amp modeler, with an expanded array of 78 guitar amps, from high-wattage heavyweights to boutique beauties and vintage treasures.

Guitar amp models are just the beginning: With 24 guitar cabs, 98 stompbox and studio effects, 28 bass amps, 22 bass cabs and six vocal preamps - POD X3 Live comes complete with the all-around sonic firepower of a top-tier major-label studio, ready to tackle guitar, bass vocals and beyond. What’s more, its larger LCD and smart new editing workflow pages make it easier than ever to find, tweak and save tones.

POD X3 Live also offers powerful new dual tone modeling and routing options. Split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create gorgeous new hybrids, or use its dual inputs to individually process two instruments—a microphone and a guitar, for example—at the same time.

Computer recording enthusiasts will want to exploit the USB 2.0 connectivity provided by POD X3 Live for multi-channel recording as well as its S/PDIF Stereo Digital Audio Output for sending an ultra-clean signal to their DAW.

In addition to stereo 1/4-inch line outputs (with Amp/Line pad switch) POD X3 Live boasts stereo XLR balanced line outputs for the best possible live signal. When you hit the stage with the sleek, rugged brushed-aluminum POD X3 Live (with its racecar-inspired built-in expression pedal), you’ll be outfitted with even more of the flexibility and timeless tones that have made POD the global standard for the discriminating guitarist.

Amps/Cabs: From Boutique Beauties to Screaming Monsters
Quite simply, there has never been an amp modeler with this much sheer firepower. The awesome amp arsenal in POD X3 Live boasts a whopping 78 guitar amps and 24 guitar cabinets (along with 28 bass amp models and 22 bass cabinet models). With the brilliant new Dual Tone processing provided by POD X3 Live, you can double your trouble by running through two amp rigs simultaneously, pairing any of the rumbling amp models provided by POD X3 Live for new and adventurous hybrids. And of course, Line 6 uses A.I.R.™ II microphone modeling to give you four mic options (with control of mic positioning and room bleed) for every single cab.

Effects: THe Most Mamoth COllection of Tones and Timbres Ever Assembled
Try to picture this: a pedal board that’s 30-feet long, with close to a hundred of the all-time greatest stompboxes (in pristine condition!), along with an effects rack that houses top-notch outboard compressors, reverbs, EQs and vintage preamps. And imagine that you could play and record through this über-board with no noise at all, only one power supply and only a handful of knobs and switches to control the entire thing. Now imagine that it’s a svelte, sleek and shiny brushed-aluminum killer that looks awesome with your onstage rig. That’s what you get with POD® X3 Live: up to nine simultaneous effects, and the most mammoth collection of tones and timbres ever assembled. With POD X3 Dual Tone processing, you can even run through two completely independent effects chains at the same time, to create totally original (and insane!) walls of sound. While its heavy-duty metal footswitches allow you to select presets and individual effect modules, the stylish and rugged POD X3 Live foot controller can be used to control wah, volume or to morph between effect settings. You can even integrate your collection of outboard rack and stompbox effects with POD X3 Live via its 1/4-inch stereo effects loop. POD X3 Live includes:

  • Stomp: Fuzz, Distortion, Overdrive and every flavor of delicious dirt.
  • Mod: Chorus, Flanger, Tremolo, Rotary, Phaser; some serious swoosh.
  • Delay: Multiple types of Analog, Digital, Tape and other echoes, echoes, echoes. . .
  • Reverb: Multiple types of Room, Hall, Chamber, Plate, Spring and more.
  • Beyond: Compressors, Gate, 4-Band Semi-Parametric EQ, Guitar Synth, Filters, Wah and the entire galaxy of otherworldly timbre tweakers.

Bass and Vocals: The Ultimate Secret Weapon for Bassists, Singers, and Songwriters
Think POD is only geared towards guitarists? Think again: POD® X3 Live might just be the ultimate secret weapon for bassists, singers and songwriters too. Bass players can combine any of the 28 badass bass amp and 22 bass cab models in POD X3 with any one of its killer studio-grade mic preamps, high-end compressors and super-cool stompboxes. Better yet, why not use Dual Tone processing to run up to nine of those stompboxes and studio processors on each of your two simultaneous bass rigs . . . in stereo! Now that’s lowdown and dirty. . .

Singers can run their studio microphone into the XLR input on the POD X3 Live and take advantage of its warm and rich suite of mic preamps. Adding a touch of top-quality vintage spring or digital reverb will put that professional touch on all your best songs.

Perform live using POD X3 Dual Tone processing to turn your POD X3 Live into both a vocal processor/preamp and a guitar amp modeler/effector, and simply send a single stereo pair to the house as you sing and play your sensitive heart out! Dunlop 535Q Multi-Wah Crybaby Pedal

Dunlop 535Q Multi-Wah Crybaby Pedal Review

Dunlop 535Q Multi-Wah Crybaby Pedal Feature

  • "Q" dial allows you to shape your wah from a narrow, sharp wah to a broad, subtle wah.
  • Offers six new guitar wah ranges
  • Features a variable boost from 0 to +26 dB
  • Hard wire on/off switch
The Crybaby 535Q is the Swiss Army knife of wah pedals. It provides control over the most important wah parameters, making it easy for you to create your ultimate wah tone. This is the wah pedal of choice for guitar master Joe Satriani.

The Swiss Army knife of wah pedals. Click to enlarge.

Adjust the sharpness, volume and tonal range of your wah sound.

Wah Range Selector
The Wah Range Selector knob is located on the side of the 535Q pedal. It allows you to select a tonal range that is best suited for your expression needs. Turn the knob clockwise for the lower register ranges and counter-clockwise for the higher ranges.

Volume Control
By turning the Volume Control knob located on the left side of the pedal, you control the amount of gain. Turning the knob clockwise will increase your gain to up to 16dB. Turning the knob counter-clockwise will decrease your gain to 0dB, or normal throughput.

Variable Q
The "Q" adjustment is also located on the left side of the pedal; you can control the sharpness of the bandpass with this adjustment. High Q is a very selective bandpass filter, low Q is a very broad bandpass filter approaching an almost volume-like control. The lower Q settings have more musical quality and don't effect tone as much as the high Q settings.

Solid Construction
The CRYBABY 535Q features a heavy, die-cast construction, for a road-ready wah pedal that'll provide years of reliability.

Powering Options
Power the CRYBABY with a 9-volt battery, or grab an optional Dunlop ECB-003 AC Adapter for powering via outlet.

One-Year Warranty
Dunlop provides extra peace of mind by offering a one-year warranty from date of purchase.

What's in the Box
Dunlop 535Q Multi-Wah Crybaby Pedal, User's Manual The Dunlop Crybaby 535Q offers versatility never heard before. This pedal lets you customize and shape the sound of your wah. By a simple turn of the "Q" dial, you can shape your wah from a narrow, sharp wah to a broad, subtle wah. The Dunlop Crybaby 535Q also offers six new guitar wah ranges, a variable boost from 0 to +26 dB and a hard wire on/off switch. Its new custom circuitry consumes less power and eliminates unwanted distortion. The Dunlop Crybaby 535Q is the guitarist's premium "do it all" wah-wah pedal. Control over every parameter lets you sculpt the effect to your liking. Select the frequency center of the effect, then dial in the breadth (frequency range) to be swept by the pedal's travel. From narrow & sharp to broad & subtle, this clean, noise-free wah puts the control in your hands (and foot). Used by Jeff Beck.

Dynamic Articulation
Discerning ears will notice that each sound is actually a series of different samples; multiple dynamic-level samples and articulations are all built in so as you play harder and softer, the drum or cymbal changes its timbre, not just its volume. This engineered realism is known as Dynamic Articulation, an Alesis exclusive.

This results in sounds that respond accurately not only to dynamic changes, but also with the appropriate timbral and color changes you'd expect from their acoustic counterparts. You can play with or without reverb for different room sounds and enjoy a wide variety of rimshots, rim clicks and different stick-placement sounds on the cymbals. The Random Sample feature also ensures you don't get the same sound twice for further creative realism.

Rocktron Hush Noise Reduction Effect Pedal

Rocktron Hush Noise Reduction Effect Pedal Review

Rocktron Hush Noise Reduction Effect Pedal Feature

  • Wipes Out Hiss
  • 65db gain Reduction
  • Smooth Operation
  • No Pops or Clicks
If you aren’t using the HUSH, you aren’t using real noise reduction for guitar. When used properly, the HUSH will wipe out hiss, unwanted feedback and pickup buzz. The HUSH pedal delivers 65dB of signal cleanup, while your music signal integrity remains unaffected. In other words, get rid of the noise without altering your tone! Guitar Player Magazine wrote that the "HUSH Pedal will work for all guitar-related noise problems: it’s perfect" and "its potent noise-killing abilities will be fully appreciated." Simply plug the HUSH in AFTER distortion boxes, wah-wahs, noisy vintage effects, or other noisy units and turn the Threshold knob until the noise goes away. It’s that easy! You will not find a more effective noise reduction. Unlike noise "gates" that chop off the end of your notes, or ruin your sustain, HUSH the Pedal is actually a form of single-ended noise reduction that tracks your signal all the way and pushes the noise floor below the point where your ear can hear the noise. It does not hurt your sustain or chop off the end of your notes. Simply use the Threshold knob to smooth out your signal while wiping out noise. This is the best friend a guitar player could have! Now hold on, partner. You must pay attention to the proper setup, with the HUSH pedal going AFTER your noisy stomp boxes. The HUSH is not designed to take the input directly from your guitar WITHOUT some processing happening between the guitar and the HUSH noise reduction. When setup correctly, with your signal going from your preamp and effects, or from your distortion and effects, into the HUSH, you WILL be amazed at how it will clean up the excess noise, including pickup buzz! The HUSH can also be used in your amplifier’s effects loop. However, if you are running multiple effects through this loop, the HUSH should always be the last dynamic device in the signal chain, but before digital delays or reverbs. The HUSH pedal incorporates the latest version of the HUSH discreet circuitry which also includes Rocktron’s patented Variable Integrated Release (V.I.R.) technology. V.I.R. technology utilizes a low-noise VCA with precision detector circuits to achieve the smoothest and most transparent noise reduction possible.

Also, Passive and Active inputs allow you to operate Rust Ride with any type of bass pickups while individual Direct and Effect outputs allow a routing of clean bass tone to a tuner P.A., or a second amplifier for blending dry and effect signals. Using Rust Ride with a guitar reveals the whole new dimension of the pedal with tight low-end and high-octane overdrive/distortion.

Behringer FX600 Digital Stereo Multi-Effects

Behringer FX600 Digital Stereo Multi-Effects Review

Behringer FX600 Digital Stereo Multi-Effects Feature

  • Ultimate digital multi-effects pedal comparable to state-of-the-art studio processors
  • 24-bit high-resolution stereo effects including Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, Tremolo and Pitch Shifter
  • 2 additional parameter controls to adjust delay time, flanger rate, etc.
  • Blue status LED for effect on/off and battery check
  • Runs on 9 V battery or the BEHRINGER PSU-SB DC power supply (not included)
Studio effects processors sound really good, but they can bulky, complicated and expensive. Now you can have all the power and great sound of studio-grade, stereo effects processing, thanks to the ultra-affordable, and easy-to-use DIGITAL MULTI-FX FX600.

Six different modulation effects in one pedal.

Select your effect and adjust two separate parameters and the effect/clean level.

Add Behringer's PSU-SB power supply or go with a 9 volt battery.

Stellar Sounds
This studio-in-a-box features Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, Tremolo and Pitch Shifter, all in mind-blowing 24-bit/40 kHz resolution that turns everyday riffs into 3-D epics from the outer limits.

  • Chorus: This effect slightly detunes the original signal. A very pleasant detune effect is created in connection with the pitch variation.

  • Flanger: Originally, the flanger effect was generated with two tape recorders running synchronously. The same audio signal was recorded on both machines. If you put a finger on the left spool of one of the machines, the spool and the playback speed are slowed down. The generated delay results in phase shifting of the signals.

  • Phaser: With the phaser, a second, phase-shifted signal is added to the original audio signal. The resulting sound is thicker and above all livelier.

  • Pitch Shifter: The pitch shifter slightly detunes the audio signal.

  • Tremolo: The tremolo effect is achieved by periodic modulation of the input signal level. This results in a continuous change from low to high level that lends a quivering, tremulous sound character.

  • Delay: A delay of the input signal with various repetitions.

Simple Operation
Just select one of the six effects with the dedicated FX knob, and then use the two parameter dials to fine-tune the effect. The LEVEL control determines how much of the effect is mixed with the original signal.

Dependable Operation
The bright LED tells you when the FX600 is activated, and the first-class on/off switch maintains incredible signal integrity in bypass mode. And you get flexible powering as well--power the DD400 with a 9 V battery or a DC power adapter (not included).

Moog Music MF101 Moogerfooger Low Pass Envelope Filter Pedal

Moog Music MF101 Moogerfooger Low Pass Envelope Filter Pedal Review

Moog Music MF101 Moogerfooger Low Pass Envelope Filter Pedal Feature

  • This is the classic Moog filter that changed the sound of electronic music
  • Reach out and sweep the filter with the CUTOFF knob
  • Or use the ENVELOPE section to do it automatically
  • Plug in one or more expression pedals or control voltages to do it
  • This is the best-sounding, most playable filter you can have
This is the classic Moog filter that changed the sound of electronic music. Reach out and sweep the filter with the CUTOFF knob. Or use the ENVELOPE section to do it automatically. Or plug in one or more expression pedals or control voltages to do it. Or do all three. This is the best-sounding, most playable filter you can have! A 110V power supply is included. What is a Lowpass Filter? A lowpass filter removes high frequencies from a tone. It makes the tone sound more mellow or muted. The lower the cutoff, the more muted the tone sounds. Imagine a window shade. As it is pulled down, it cuts out the higher light, then the light from the middle of the window, then finally all the light. A lowpass filter does the same sort of thing to the sound spectrum. The moogerfooger filter is a direct descendant of the original Moog modular synthesizers. It contains two complete modular functions: a voltage-controlled lowpass filter and an envelope follower. The envelope follower tracks the loudness contour (envelope) of a sound, and produces a voltage that follows the dynamics of your playing. Every time you play a note, the envelope voltage goes up and then down. The harder you play, the higher the envelope voltage goes. The envelope follower opens and closes the lowpass filter. Think of the envelope voltage as an invisible hand that turns the CUTOFF knob up and down every time you play a note. Since the envelope follows the dynamics of your instrument's signal, you actually play the filter as you play your instrument. The moogerfooger filter is also a resonant filter. As you turn up the resonance, the overtones near the cutoff frequency are boosted. Resonance gives the moogerfooger filter the same classic Moog filter sound as the Minimoog and Moog modular synthesizers. The moogerfooger filter's control parameters are signal mix, cutoff frequency, resonance amount, and envelope amount. All of the Lowpas

The Ebtech 2-Channel Hum Eliminator is a quick-and-easy way to eliminate AC hum and noise. Insert the Hum Eliminator in the line-level signal path after your preamp and it will break noisy ground loops without degrading your signal. Use it on long unbalanced lines that are especially vulnerable to noise. Many mixers don't have balanced monitor outs and aux sends, but you can make them quiet using Ebtech's Hum Eliminator. Includes 1/4" TRS smart jacks that convert automatically back and forth between balanced and unbalanced lines. Made in the USA..
